Paul Bunyan Mall Launches Fourth Annual

Kids With Heart Program Valentine’s Day Weekend

Nominate local youth who are passionate about volunteerism and community service

Bemidji, MN – Kids do some amazing things, whether it is raising money for a special cause, putting someone else’s needs in front of their own or volunteering their time toward community organizations. Over the past three years, Paul Bunyan Mall has had the honor of recognizing Bemidji-area youth who have demonstrated care, compassion and concern for others through the Kids With Heart program. Beginning Valentine’s Day weekend, we encourage members of the community to nominate a child 18 and under who possesses these outstanding qualities.

The Kids With Heart program recognizes 10 exceptional young people who are passionate about volunteerism and community service. Last year, Paul Bunyan Mall was honored to recognize Lillian Main as our grand-prize winner, who donated $500.00 to Headwaters Science Center. 

Through nominations by members of the community, a grand-prize winner and nine runners-up will be selected as Paul Bunyan Mall’s Kids With Heart award recipients; prizes include a $500 donation to the charity of the grand-prize winner’s choice and ten $100 shopping sprees. This year’s Kids With Heart program will kick off Valentine’s Day weekend and culminate during National Volunteer Month on April 23 with a recognition ceremony.

“Over the past three years, we have had the privilege of recognizing outstanding kids in our community who personify the definition of a ‘kid with heart,’” said Susan Goudge, Mall Manager at Paul Bunyan Mall. “The Kids With Heart program has evolved into an anticipated community program, and we want to encourage everyone to help us find Bemidji-area kids who have demonstrated care and compassion for others. We look forward to learning more about the contributions being made by youth in our community.”

Paul Bunyan Mall will begin accepting nominations on Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2010). To nominate a “Kid With Heart,” visit Paul Bunyan Mall’s center court area or www.KidsWithHeartContest.com. Submit the completed form online or at the center, including details about your nominee’s outstanding qualities as well as a picture, to the Paul Bunyan Mall management office. The deadline for nominations is April 5, and winners of the Kids With Heart award will be honored at Paul Bunyan Mall on April 23.
